Mental Health Awareness week

Published 9th May 2022

Mental Health Awareness week

Its Mental Health Awareness Week from 9 to 15 May 2022. The official theme is ‘loneliness’.  Having a premature or unwell baby in a neonatal unit can feel a very lonely and isolating experience.  This can take an inevitable toll on your mental health.  We want to take this opportunity to remind everyone that you are not alone, and trying to spend a small amount time connecting with others each day, whether its with your family and friends outside of the hospital, or with other families and staff on the unit, can have a beneficial effect on how you feel.  The EBA is ran by volunteers who have all had a baby on the units, and if you’d like a chat with one of us please do get in touch.

We also have a ‘Help and Support’ section on our website https://www.earlybirth.co.uk/sources-of-support-and-help/ where you can read more and find out about some services an organisations that may be helpful.
