Midsummer Night’s Dream Ball and Hannah Fraser-James
Published 7th April 2022
We have recently heard from Hannah Fraser-James, Senior Sister and Special Care Lead Nurse about what the EBA means to her and why she is so pleased to have been selected to go to our Midsummer Night’s Dream Ball.
Tickets are still available for ball which is coming up soon on 25th June 2022 by visiting https://midsummernight.eventbrite.co.uk
“I feel incredibly lucky to have been selected to go and join what sounds like an incredible night of raising awareness and fundraising for the units.
Without the EBA our working world would be very different!
We are able to provide extra special touches to families who have to spend time with us. In what is the worst time in a families lives, the EBA allow us to support every family and brighten up some otherwise really dark days.
The EBA have funded some very special projects for us over the years one of which was all about siblings. This was so that they have things that they will enjoy using when they visit the unit. Helping keep them occupied while parents and carers visit their baby.
The EBA provides food for the parents on the unit which makes such a difference. I remember one day a baby had been transferred from out of area overnight for a surgical review. That morning the dad was exhausted, he hadn’t slept for days and hadn’t eaten as he was so worried about everything. I took him to the parents area and was able to offer him a variety of goodies, he was so grateful he hugged me and cried. It was exactly what he needed and it wouldn’t have been possible without the EBA.
The EBA support parents, carers, babies, siblings and staff. Nothing is too much trouble for them. I am eternally grateful to all of those angels who continue to love and support us in anything we need! The effort that goes in to fundraising is enormous and we are thankful to them and everyone who takes the time to donate and raise funds!”
Thank you for sharing that with us Hannah. So wonderful to hear how we help to make such a huge difference to everyone on the units.
