World Prematurity Day
Published 17th November 2021

Today is World Prematurity Day, a global movement to raise awareness of premature birth and the huge impact it can have on babies and families. Join us and wear purple in honor of this special day. ππππ
One out of every 13 babies in the UK is born prematurely. Many of these will need admission to a neonatal unit and this experience can affect families differently.
About 600 babies per year are admitted to the Trevor Mann Baby Unit. Approximately half of these are from the Brighton area. The remainder are from elsewhere in the country. Between TMBU and Princess Royal Hospital SCBU in Haywardβs Heath, about 850 babies are treated each year.
The EBA is here to help and support every single one of them and their families, whether its an admission for a baby born very prematurely, or a term baby who is unwell. Whether the admission is for months or days, we strive to make a positive difference.

You can also find out ways to support our work and fundraise/ make a donation online.
Lastly weβd like to thank everyone for your support, fundraising and donations to help the babies and families on the units. Premature birth can be very difficult, and with your help we are able to make things just that little bit easier. ππ
