This week we hear from Marie Hards, mum to Sienna who was born at 24 weeks. We are very lucky to have recently had Marie join The EBA Committee.
She tells us why she wanted to below:
“I’m a very proud mum to 2 beautiful girls Jolie aged 10 and Sienna aged 2. Back in 2019 Sienna was born at 24 weeks and 2 days. Sienna spent 3 & a half months in TMBU and then was transferred to Hastings for a further 12 days. During our time on TMBU the nurses and doctors were beyond amazing, they saved Sienna and we are forever grateful. They were so supportive to us as a family and I felt I could talk them about anything.
It was always nice coming onto the unit to find little treats in the family area from cakes, fresh fruit to tea and biscuits and volunteers to talk to. I always said to myself how lovely all these little things were and that when Sienna was well and home I would love to be able to give back and help. Since being home I’ve supported and helped fundraise for EBA and Ronald McDonald house. I’ve recently joined the EBA committee and Its a pleasure being part of this amazing charity and being able to help and give back anyway I can.”
