Thank you to Dean Tonks – Brighton Marathon Run!
Published 29th September 2021

Thank you to one of our supporters, Dean Trunks, for running the Brighton Marathon recently! He raised an amazing £1450 plus a further £250 was donated by his employer! What a huge achievement and such a lot of money for The Early Birth Association! 💛
Here is Dean’s reason for running for the charity:
“So a few months before Christmas I got a bit keyboard happy and thought I’ll do the marathon, things quickly escalated from there. So after many runs in this wonderful weather I needed motivation to keep on going. So with a tear in my eye and lump in my throat. I just reminded myself of the cheeky little chap Leo. “Darren and Trudi’s little lad”. Who was born 13 weeks premature on 13/4/2014 weighing only 701g(1lb 5oz) with little hope of survival. Thanks to the wonderful staff at the Trevor Mann baby unit and the vital equipment including the Neonatal ambulance team, Leo beat all the odds. After a four month stay on the unit, Leo continues to thrive despite ongoing medical complexities, all of which would not have happened without the exceptional care he received in the first months of his life at the Trevor Mann baby unit.” 😊 Here is a link to the JustGiving page
