Funds raised from book for siblings have funded vCreate for a month and a half!

‘My Very Little Sister and the Very Big Story’ was written by Alina Brett when she was aged three and became a big sister to Anela who was born 15 weeks early. Alina’s book is now helping children across the UK to make sense of, and give voice to, the anger, grief, fear and pain they go through when a sibling is taken into hospital. Even more amazingly, the funds raised through sales of the book are paying for a month and a half of vCreate, which is a secure video messaging technology that is used on the units to help keep families in contact with their babies. Nurses can send messages, photos and videos to families to keep them updated and in contact when they are physically unable to be with their babies. It has been a real lifeline during Covid and made a huge difference to many families. In the first year, 9351 photos were taken and 1328 videos recorded, supporting 300 families. Alina chose to fund vCreate for a month in order to help siblings feel closer to their baby brothers and sisters in hospital.
We are hoping to support just as many families this year, made possible by donations such as this. So a huge thank you to Alina and all at Brett Books!
