EBA Blog 1 – 2020 Round-up

We’d like to introduce you to a new feature which will help keep you, our amazing supporters, up-to-date with what we are doing, and also help you to get to know us a bit better too.

Welcome to our 1st blog – a round-up of last year.

The EBA 2020 Round-Up

Last year (2020) was set to be an amazing year for fundraising events, but similarly to other charities our major fundraisers were cancelled, and we were left wondering what to do.

Online fundraisers were something we had not thought of before but as we all had to become more inventive with our time, ideas began to evolve with how we could continue to fundraise, albeit virtually!

We were able to organise a funding campaign for the vCreate system and iPads which has played an integral part in keeping families connected during the pandemic.

We organised a ‘Walk the Distance’ and EBA supporter Catherine Demir and her team organised a virtual  ‘Push for Prems’ which despite being a lot different to the usual set up, it was a safe way for supporters to work those leg muscles and raise money at the same time!

As a result of the virtual events and our supporter’s positivity, kindness and determination, we have been able to fund the following:

  • Milk warmers for every cot in the units
  • Vital medical equipment
  • Incubator covers
  • Hand cream for staff
  • Feeding chairs
  • Bedding for parents
  • Sibling books
  • Toys
  • Cot mobiles
  • Wishing Well music sessions
  • Ongoing mind clinic sessions for staff
  • Bereavement training
  • Easter and Christmas gifts
  • Mother’s and Father’s Day gifts
  • Arts and crafts, including hand and footprint clay kits
  • New cupboards for the quiet room
  • Prem baby clothes
  • Continued supplies of muslins, bonding squares, cotton buds, laundry bags, memory bags, blankets, bereavement items, wash bags, cool bags, breast pump boxes, transport packs, staff and parent food/drink supplies, hand cream, toiletries, hand gel and face masks!

All of the above has made a huge difference to the lives of the families and staff on the units both physically and mentally, which has been critical with the additional strain of Covid-19.

So, here’s a huge THANK YOU to you all for continuing to support us, even when faced with a global pandemic!

The EBA is run solely on volunteers, relying 100% on donations to keep the charity going, therefore, your fundraisers are vital and we need your help for 2021!

If you have any ideas for fundraising or would like to volunteer, please get in touch with us.

Here’s to a brighter 2021, stay safe everyone and much love to you all 💛
